As McLarens become quicker and more powerful certain aspects of the drivetrain have shown to break under the added driveline torque. This differential with Limited Slip is a nice upgrade if you’re looking to preemptively avoid a failure while at the drag strip. Or a direct replacement for those who may have already had a failure. McLaren does not consider the transmission a service item, thus if the factory open differential fails they deem the entire transmission faulty and needing of replacement. This differential is a cost effective alternative to replacing the entire transmission.
